Creating a logo/watermark; sharing my process

Using photoshop (I have Photoshop elements 6)
*Open photoshop to editor, select color that you want to use for graphics.
*Go to Create and choose artwork.
*Open new blank document with transparent background.
*Select graphics/shapes and drag them onto the blank document.
*Go back to projects to add text box
*Go back to art to rearrange text boxes and graphics
*Go to editor and layer by layer adjust color.
*Save as logo, flatten to get white background.
For one color watermarks, it works best to "remove color" from entire document and adjust levels so blacks are bold, otherwise it will appear faint even at 100% opacity.
When your watermark is how you want it, go to edit from top menu and select "define brush". Later you can go to preset manager to organize them (mine are a mess right now) and there you have a it! A watermark.
I hope my explanation makes sense, it was a lot of trial and error for me and continues to be, but I thought I'd share what I've learned so far.
The problem is the design part!! Graphic designers are definitely very talented! I have a lot of work into it already and still don't have a logo that I like.
